Two pathways: interpreting, with the opportunity to specialise in conference interpreting or in public service and negotiations interpreting; and translation, with training in the technical, scientific, legal, economic, biomedical, social-healthcare, political, computer science, publishing and multimedia fields.

This master’s degree prepares interpreters and translators giving graduates the skills they need to translate specialised texts and interpret speech in a variety of fields. Considerable attention is paid to research and documentation, and to text drafting and revision. Students also gain an insight into new technologies applied to translation, with training modules on localisation, terminology and computer-aided translation (CAT) tools.

MA in Specialised Translation – Forlì Campus, Università di Bologna, Forlì

Language combinations: English and Italian (mandatory) and Chinese, French, German, Russian or Spanish

English is a mandatory working language for all students and non-specific language subjects are taught in English. Students learn how to translate from Italian into English and vice versa. They also study how to translate from and into Italian and another language. Some of the specialisation fields touched on in the course are: finance, medicine, legal, ICT and technical.

Master’s Degree Programme in Specialised Translation and Conference Interpreting – University of Trieste, Trieste

Three pathways: common; conference interpreting; and specialised translation and dialogue interpreting

The common pathway includes advanced technologies for transaltion and interpreting, Italian law for linguists, Italian linguistics, theory and a final thesis.

The conference interpreting pathway offers several language combinations from and into Italian.

The specialised translation and dialogue interpreting pathway offers specialised translation modules, literary/editorial and literary/essay modules and interpteting modules.
