This programme offers an advanced technical training, leading to a postgraduate qualification in Translation Studies.
The core modules are: Translation Technology, Computerised Technology, Translation Theory and Research Methodologies. Optional modules include: Interpreting Theory and Practice, Audiovisual Translation, Translation as a Profession, Localisation and specific language and subject-area practice. All students have to write a dissertation in the summer.
The programme is a member of the European Masters in Translation (EMT) Network.
Entry requirements: 2:ii or equivalent. Professional experience and/or qualifications may be considered.
Duration: one year (full-time)

The core modules of this MSc are: Translation Technology, Computerised Terminology, Translation Technology, Translation Theory, Research Methodologies, Localisation, Audio Visual Translation and Object-Oriented Programming (Java). Optional modules can include: Translation as a Profession, Digital Methods in Language and Discourse and EU Institutions Study Visit.
Students either write a dissertation or opt for a three-month work placement.
The programme is a member of the European Masters in Translation (EMT) Network.

MA in Translation Studies – University College Cork, School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, Cork
Languages: Chinese, French, German, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish
The course provides students with the knowledge and skills they need to become professional translators by covering approaches to translation, interpreting, re-writing and re-voicing.
Students will also learn how to use translation technologies. The MA also includes a dissertation or an extended translation project.
Entry requirements: 2:i in a language or language-related subject. Applicants with a 2:ii will be considered if they can prove proficiency. Professional experience and/or qualifications may be considered.
Duration: one year (full-time), two years (part-time)
